Particle Size and Potential Toxic Element Speciation in Municipal Solid Waste Incineration (MSWI) Bottom Ash

چکیده
The speciation of potentially toxic elements (PTE) in bottom ashes from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) and their relationship with grain size is investigated. proposed enrichment several potential lower sized grains discussed, comparing the literature new data on Parma’s incinerator. Results X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), SEM-EDS, XRD analyses different show (1) a positive Si-trend, correlated few lithophile elements, such as Zr Rb. In Parma, Al, K, Mg, Fe also correlate Si for portion below 2 mm; (2) Ca-trend, strong negative correlation loss ignition (LOI), S, Cl, Ti, Zn, Pb, Sn. Mineralogical composition shows little change size, previous investigations, but substantial differences amorphous content. SEM-EDS analysis that highly heterogeneous, portions coming melting during incineration, residual glass, unburnt (LOI). above results PTE are either present metals (such Cu Ni, or Pb Sn) carbonate, sulfate, LOI portions.

Distribution of Chloride in Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Bottom Ash
Chloride content is a critical problem for the reuse of incineration bottom ash as raw material in cement. The effect of dechlorination procedure largely depends on the existence form of the chlorides. However, limited information about the distribution and identity of chlorides in bottom ash can be obtained by bulk analysis methods. In this paper, the investigation towards a more comprehensive...
متن کاملEvaluation and prediction of emissions from a road built with bottom ash from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI).
In autumn 2001, a full-scale test road was built with municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) bottom ash at the Dåvamyran landfill, Umeå, Northern Sweden. Leachates were collected from asphalted sections with either bottom ash or gravel as filling material. In this research, 12 months of ash leachate sampling were evaluated with respect to emissions of contaminants such as trace metals and ch...
متن کاملSolidification and Biotoxicity Assessment of Thermally Treated Municipal Solid Waste Incineration (MSWI) Fly Ash
In the present work, thermal treatment was used to stabilize municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash, which was considered hazardous waste. Toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) results indicated that, after the thermal process, the leaching concentrations of Pb, Cu, and Zn decreased from 8.08 to 0.16 mg/L, 0.12 to 0.017 mg/L and 0.39 to 0.1 mg/L, respectively, which well ...
متن کاملCarbon dioxide sequestration in municipal solid waste incinerator (MSWI) bottom ash.
During bottom ash weathering, carbonation under atmospheric conditions induces physico-chemical evolutions leading to the pacification of the material. Fresh bottom ash samples were subjected to an accelerated carbonation using pure CO2. The aim of this work was to quantify the volume of CO2 that could be sequestrated with a view to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and investigate the possibilit...
متن کاملSpeciation of copper in the incineration fly ash of a municipal solid waste.
The speciation of copper and zinc in the incineration fly ash of a municipal solid waste in Taiwan was investigated in the present work. By the least-squares fitted X-ray absorption near edge structural (XANES) spectroscopy, we found that CuCO3, CuOH2, and CuO (fractions of 0.09, 0.39 and 0.51, respectively) were the main copper species in the fly ash. Quantitative analysis of the extended X-ra...
